Venus makes a pentagram pattern in eight years. I posted a diagram in the photos section... In eight years the eclipse will happen again, completing a full (okay, minus two degrees) pentagram.

The fivepointed star was a sacred symbol in Sumeria and pre-Columbian America, although in the latter with rounded points, and may have been a symbol of Venus based on its orbit. I think the Mayan culture had succeeded in discovering the pentagram shaped orbit. They certainly had advanced knowledge of the timing of the appearances of the Morning star and the Evening star, that is, the orbit of the planet Venus.
In any event, the symbol for Ishtar/Venus has almost always been an eight pointed star. Don't know what to make of that.

10/18Here's an aside to that. At a Olympian wedding feast, the Goddess of Discord, who was specifically NOT invited, threw a Golden Apple over the fence, marked "for the Fairest". Aphrodite, Athena, and Hera all claimed it. A test was made (incidentally providing the mythic provocation for the Trojan War), and the prize was given to Aphrodite (Venus).
Now, take an apple and slice it horizontally. See the pentagram? -
